Dr. Shequite Wilson-Johnson is a dedicated educator, community advocate, and nonprofit leader committed to advancing equity and opportunity in Mississippi. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Mississippi Valley State University, where she designs curricula, mentors students, and leads research focused on rural development, civic engagement, and racial equity.
As the Founder and CEO of the GAP Leadership Program, Dr. Wilson-Johnson works to empower young people through entrepreneurship education, storytelling, and civic leadership initiatives. Her leadership has created pathways for students and families in the Mississippi Delta to thrive academically, economically, and socially. She has also held executive roles in nonprofit organizations, where she directed programs in education, youth development, and community empowerment.
Recognized for her impactful work, Dr. Wilson-Johnson was recently honored with the Donald W. Littrell New Professional Award from the Community Development Society. Her life’s mission is to build bridges of opportunity, ensuring that underrepresented voices are heard and valued in decision-making spaces.
