Miracle Matlock is a native of Carthage, Mississippi, and currently resides in Gluckstadt, where she continues to be a passionate advocate for equity, leadership, and community engagement. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology from Tougaloo College, followed by a Master of Healthcare Administration from Belhaven University. She is presently pursuing her Doctorate at Belhaven, further strengthening her ability to influence and serve communities across Mississippi.
A proud mother of two daughters, she has built a career defined by service and leadership. She made history as the first African American and youngest person ever elected as Alderwoman in the City of Carthage, Mississippi. In this groundbreaking role, she championed initiatives that increased community involvement and supported local development efforts.
Beyond elected office, she has held numerous professional and civic leadership roles, including her current work in social services, where she advocates for the safety and well-being of children and families statewide. She is also an alumna of several leadership programs, where she developed strategies to inspire civic engagement and strengthen democratic participation.
She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and the Junior Auxiliary of Madison County. Through her work and service, she remains deeply committed to empowering others—especially youth—to embrace leadership and advocate for meaningful change within their communities.
