Keisha Phillips is an educator, former community leader, and advocate for youth empowerment and civic engagement. A native of Drew, Mississippi the historic hometown of NFL legend Archie Manning. Keisha has dedicated over 17 years to public service and education within the State of Mississippi. She currently serves a teacher and school test coordinator of a small rural consolidated school, where she leads with a servant-hearted approach rooted in her Christian values and belief in equitable access to quality education.
Keisha holds an Educational Specialist degree in Administration from Belhaven University (2025), a Master of Arts in Teaching with certification, a Master of Science in Criminal Justice, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Mississippi Valley State University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with research interests in College and Career Readiness, youth civic engagement, and rural community development.
A former city alderwoman with eight years of service, Keisha remains actively involved in civic leadership. She has a strong passion for politics and public service, aspiring to one day serve as a state representative or county supervisor. She is also deeply committed to nurturing the next generation through initiatives such as Drew Day, which celebrates the legacies of Pop Staples Emmett, and by organizing voter education.
Keisha is a recipient of numerous honors, including being named Shaw High School’s 2024–2025 Teacher of the Year. Her multifaceted career includes roles as a College and Career Readiness instructor, test coordinator, mental health case manager, social service director, and correctional technician. A lifelong learner and change-maker, Keisha continues to lead with faith, resilience, and a profound dedication to uplifting communities in the Mississippi Delta and beyond.
